Network Technician, II
Summary:
Responsible for analyzing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing the customer’s network infrastructure and application components while performing a wide variety of tasks; evaluation, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure the customer’s computer network performance meets their satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble, configure and install network servers, workstations and all other network peripherals
- Install and configure operating system and application software on network servers and workstations
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings; DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, SPAM, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Configure and install Firewalls, VPN appliances for access to vital business applications
- Troubleshoot computing systems, networks, and applications to identify malfunctions and correct them as well as other operational difficulties
- The administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users
- Plan and implement network security, manage host security, and regulate file permissions
- Provide direction, information, and recommend network configurations and installations
- Utilize good judgment within company policies and procedures to complete established goals and maintain flexibility to allow changes
- Provide excellent customer service via phone and onsite network support by being professional, troubleshooting, resolving issues, site visits, training and providing customer feedback
- Provide project management skills to assigned complex tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Skills:
- Associates Degree or equivalent education and experience required
- 3 – 5 years’ networking skills experience
- Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL experience a plus
- Knowledge of TCP/IP implementation and support
- Knowledge in the areas of routing, switching, VPN
- Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds for extended distances
Travel
- Ability to travel 25%
- Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving history
