Remote Managed Services How it works Network Operations Integration through NetworkIT With the use of Computer Associates’ NetworkIT product, Automated Systems, Inc. can remotely manage and monitor Network resources at a clients location. Within Automated Systems, Inc. is a Network Operations Center, this area utilizes management components available with NetworkIT. These components communicate with NetworkIT agents that are installed at the remote clients location. Furthermore, the management components periodically poll the agents to update their status. In addition, the agents will send information back to the management software if a condition occurs. The management components provide graphical user interfaces to view the managed network as well as the agents and any network manageable device. Several reports and charts are available pertaining to the information provided by the agents including real-time performance and historical performance data. Event notification is also available by providing a means of alerting designated technicians of a critical condition occuring on a managed device through email, pager, etc. Several network resources can be included in the monitoring/ managing process. Devices include hubs, switches, and routers that have the ability to be managed. Servers and workstations from a wide variety of operating systems are monitored through the use of NetworkIT agents. The agent modules are installed on each server/workstation that is to be monitored. Agents have the ability to monitor several components of a server/workstation from print queues to memory and CPU utilization. A WAN connection such as a 56k frame-relay connection is established at the client location to provide connectivity to our 'NOC' center. Once installed, monitoring of resources is initiated.
